Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio was ready to perform her civic duty Monday and respond to a call for jury duty. But Judge James Dominguez told her not to bother, that it was unlikely she would be selected for a jury given her job as mayor and ultimate head of the Tampa Police Department. “He said I would be more disruptive than helpful,” Iorio said. She said she did once serve on a jury, 25 years ago, before she ever held elected office. That was a murder case, and the defendant was found guilty.
