Justice gets union retiree group support in U.S. House race

Democrat Charlie Justice announced Wednesday night he has the endorsement of the Alliance for Retired Americans, a union-affiliated group for retirees, in the St. Petersburg Democrat's bid to unseat U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young, R-Indian Shores.

From the Justice news release:

The endorsement letter includes such key points as:

-- “your positions demonstrate a strong commitment to improve the quality of life for older Americans. Your leadership on issues such as preserving and protecting Social Security from privatization….”

-- “The Alliance for Retired Americans believes that your election to the House of Representatives will enhance the quality of life for older Americans”

“I am proud to have this endorsement. I am committed to protecting and preserving Social Security and Medicare for the next generation. I do not support privatizing Social Security. I look forward to working hard as your next Congressman to keep this commitment to the American people. This is one area where I differ from the 40 year incumbent Bill Young who has voted to weaken Social Security stability and voted against closing the Medicare donut hole.”
