Kathryn Starkey picks up endorsement from former governor
Former Gov. Bob Martinez has endorsed Kathryn Starkey in her bid for the District 45 seat in the Florida House of Representatives, the campaign announced today.
In a statement, Martinez said, “I support Kathryn Starkey for Florida House District 45 because of her outstanding public office record. Her experience on the Southwest Florida Water Management District, Pinellas Anclote River Basin Board and on the Pasco County School Board prepared her to deal with two of Florida's most important public policy challenges, environment and education.”
Starkey is running in a tight Republican primary race against lawyer Richard Corcoran, and the two have heralded their various endorsements in recent months. Corcoran is supported by former Gov. Jeb Bush.
“Governor Martinez’s endorsement is significant to our campaign and our future success. This is a strong message to the citizens of the State of Florida and District 45 of the confidence he places in my abilities and I am honored and extremely thankful for his support,” Starkey said in a statement.
