Latvala unveils Tampa effort for Senate campaign
Republican Jack Latvala will kickoff his Tampa fund-raising efforts for the Florida Senate District 16 race with an event 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Tampa Yacht and Country Club.
Former Governor Bob Martinez and his wife Mary Jane, and former District 16 Senator Jim Sebesta and his wife Jean. It includes Hillsborough State Attorney Mark Ober, Sheriff David Gee, Tax Collector Doug Belden, Property Appraiser Rob Turner, and four current Hillsborough County Commissioners Mark Sharpe, Rose Ferlita, Jim Norman, and Ken Hagan.
Also joining Latvala’s committee are former Senate President Tom Lee, former House Speaker Lee Moffitt, and two legislators who previously served Tampa, former Senator David McClain and former representative Sandra Murman ... and three former Finance Chairs of the Republican Party of Florida Al Austin, Richard Beard, and Steve Burton.
“I am also pleased to note that several members of the committee, such as Lee Moffitt and L. Garry Smith, first chief of staff to former Governor Bob Graham, have been active Democrats. Their support is indicative of the support that I believe I am gaining across party lines in District 16 and will help produce victory in November,” Latvala said in his release.
