Les Miller asks Hillsborough administrator to increase employee salary boost
Hillsborough County Administrator Mike Merrill officially unveiled his $3 billion budget proposal for next year and county employees may be heartened by the discussion that followed.
Merrill has proposed that all county employees -- himself excluded -- get a one-time cost-of-living salary adjustment of $1,200 next year to make up, at least partially, for the past five years of frozen wages. Commissioner Les Miller wants to top that.
Miller asked Merrill to come back with the report on the ramifications of bumping that up to $1,500 for each employee.
"I think that would make a major difference to our employees," Miller said.
