Leslie Waters to Dan Hester: Take Your Contribution and ...
SEMINOLE -- Council member Leslie Waters was vocal about her irritation with fellow council member Dan Hester after Tuesday's meeting, but how irked did not become apparent until the next day.
During a council discussion about replacing Patricia Hartstein, who resigned from office earlier this month, Hester had urged members to find one method and stick to it. Hester said the council uses a different method every time they need to fill a vacancy in order to tilt the scales in favor of certain individuals. Hester said the decision to pick the next highest votegetter in the March election - former council member Tom Barnhorn - smacked of backroom or smoky room politics.
Waters said after the meeting she was insulted by the comment. The next morning, she wrote a check to Hester for $100, the amount he'd donated to her campaign for the Seminole council.
On the check, Waters wrote: "Thanks anyway. Remit of '09 campaign contribution. Regret accepting it...Pleased to be returning it."
