Leslie Waters to hold fundraiser

SEMINOLE — Republican Leslie Waters will hold a fundraiser Friday, Sept. 9, for her campaign for the state Senate.

The fundraiser will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Richard & Evelyn Jerger Building, 7785 66th St. N in Pinellas Park. The event is sponsored by Tom Jerger, CEO of Modern USA and American Traditions Insurance Cos., John Jerger, chief operating officer os WestPoint Underwriters, Ray Blacklidge, Sr. vice president and general counsel for Modern USA and American Traditions Insurance Cos., and Brian Adamski, chief finance officer of Modern USA and American Traditions Insurance Cos.

Waters, who serves on the Seminole City Council and is former speaker pro tempore of the state House, is facing fellow Republican Jim Frishe in her campaign for the District 13 Senate seat currently held by Dennis Jones.

Frishe served in the state House from 1984 to 1990 in a Pinellas Park-based district. He won his current seat in 2006 and is in his third term representing House District 54. He is the House majority whip.

Senate District 13 currently covers much of western Pinellas, including the beach communities, Dunedin, Seminole, South Pasadena, and parts of Largo, Clearwater and unincorporated Pinellas.
