Let them throw cake in Kenneth City
KENNETH CITY -- Teresa Zemaitis might hold the record for the longest time as a mayor-elect. But that's all supposed to end at tonight's special council meeting.
The Kenneth City council is scheduled to approve a settlement agreement that would allow Zemaitis to become mayor pro tem until next March when voters will have the chance to retroactively amend the town charter. An obscure clause bans all public employees from serving as mayor. Zemaitis teaches at Dixie Hollins High School.
Zemaitis said Wednesday some of her supporters are planning a celebration after tonight's swearing in the Community Hall, 4600 58th St. N. Cake is featured on the menu.
Zemaitis said she does not anticipate any last minute glitches that would derail her swearing in and predicted that, if something does prevent her from being sworn in, there'd be a lot of cake all over the place.
Check back in on Bay Buzz tonight. We'll post once it's all official.
