Linda Saul-Sena misses deadline to file resign-to-run papers

Tampa City Council member Linda Saul-Sena missed the deadline to file resignation papers to run for the Hillsborough County Commission, records show. Saul-Sena, a Democrat running for the commission's at-large District 5 seat, turned in her resignation letter June 15 with an effective resignation date of Nov. 15. Election law requires Saul-Sena to have turned in the paperwork by June 4. She could not be immediately reached for comment. Council member John Dingfelder made the same mistake. He resigned from the Tampa City Council on Wednesday, effective immediately. Dingfelder said that was the only legal way his name could appear on the ballot in November. He is running as a Democratic candidate for the District 1 commission seat. Saul-Sena is running against Republican Ken Hagan and Jim Hosler, who is running for the commission with no party affiliation. She has not returned calls for comment. She is absent today from the City Council meeting.
