SUBJECT:    Mayor’s Night Out

You may have heard me speak about a program I will be instituting during 2010, called “Mayor’s Night Out”.  This program will entail holding eight evening meetings out in the community – one in each Council District.  These meetings will enable citizens to meet with me and other members of the city’s management team to respond to their questions and assist them with their service needs.  Typically these will take place at a city facility, like a recreation center, with me and key staff members located at tables throughout a large room. 

Cabinet and I have determined that the best evening to hold Mayor’s Night Out meetings would be the same date as the Council’s mini-meeting.  This should work for all months, except November, when there is no scheduled mini-meeting.   All will begin at 7:00 pm and will continue until all participating citizens have been helped. 

Listed below are the dates selected for each of the meetings.  Specific locations have been identified for all but one meeting.  I welcome Council’s participation in these meetings and hope by getting these dates out early, we can avoid conflicts with your schedules. 

February 11        District 1        JW Cate Gym, 5801 22nd Ave. N.

March 11    District 2 Sawgrass Lake Elementary, 1815 77th Avenue N.

April 8   District 3        Willis Johns Gym, 6635 M.L. King St. N.

May 13    District 4   TBD (Roberts Rec Gym or Sunken Gardens)   

August 12    District 5 Lake Vista Gym, 1401 62nd Ave. S.

September 9    District 6 Frank Pierce Gym, 2000 7th St. S.

October 14   District 7     Childs Park Gym, 4301 13th Ave. S.

November 4        District 8 Gladden Park Gym, 3901 30th Ave. N.

UPDATE:   The May 13 event will be at the Roberts Center at 1246 50th Avenue N.
