Mayor Foster writes letter supporting Jack Latvala
ST. PETERSBURG -- Mayor Bill Foster isn't known for getting involved in local political races.
So it was something of a coup for former state senator Jack Latvala to get the CEO of the county's biggest city, Foster, to write a letter in support of his bid for the state senate.
And while it wasn't on city letter head, Foster wrote it in a way that sounded awfully official.
"Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as your mayor," Foster's letter begins. "It is an honor and privilege to serve you and I believe that together we are making St. Petersburg an even better place to live."
Latvala is the best candidate for the city, Foster stated.
"It is important that our city has someone who is prepared to fight for us in Tallahassee," Foster wrote. "I believe that person is Jack Latvala. I have known Jack for several years and I know he has what it takes to be an effective advocate for us."
At the bottom of the letter, it's noted that it was paid for and approved by Latvala. The return address on the envelope reads: Mayor Bill Foster. But the address? It's 12425 28th Street North, Suite 105. That's not City Hall, but Latvala's campaign headquarters.
