Mitch Kates just lost his tea party invitation
The news that tea party-style candidate Eric Forcade of Palm Harbor has dropped out of the GOP primary against U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young didn't sit well with Democrat Charlie Justice's campaign manager, Mitch Kates.
Kates sent out a diatribe to Forcade and others, calling him a coward, hypocrite and referring to Forcade, a Pinellas sheriff's officer, as "you and your crazy 9-12ers" and "nut-ball demigod hero Glenn Beck."
In his announcement Friday, Forcade said: "I am confident that Mr. Young's principles reflect our mutual support for the Constitution and for limited government." He had raised little money to take on the entrenched incumbent, acknowledging he didn't want to "climb that mountain."

\Dear “former candidate” Forcade,
I read this morning that you have decided to give up and not run against 40-year incumbent Bill Young in the race for U.S. Congress. Although I was a little curious by your decision ultimately I am not surprised. I had heard through the grape-vine recently that you were with Mr. Young (possibly as his guest) at a Tea Party Ho-Down in Hillsborough County a month or so ago where your nut-ball demigod hero Glenn Beck got the crowd all frothed up. I imagined at some point you would have been talked out (or bought out) of the race at some point… I was actually a little surprised, given the seemingly piss-and-vinegar attitude you 912/Tea Partiers purport to have, that you would actually get out because of fear and intimidation.
So Mr. Forcade let me get this straight… you and your crazy 912ers proclaim to stand for a massive shake-up in the status quo, ending big government spending, throw all the career politician bums out and so on… You supposedly stepped up to take on one of those career politicians, who just so happens to be the longest serving Republican member of Congress and who also happens to be the crowned “King of Earmarks” because he has spent more taxpayer money than any other member of Congress (maybe you missed the part where it was explained that earmarks are also called “pork-barrel” spending that many of you self-proclaimed Tea Partiers refer to as “wasteful, big government spending”.) Now after careful consideration you have decided to not just give up but to support him! Really!?!?!?!?
Again I ask you so I can understand your decision, with the many news stories and information about Mr. Young being revealed in the media- the fact that he sent $13.5 million to New York Harbor for a floating museum (and called it “military spending”) or that Young-backed earmarks have been investigated by law enforcement officials on four separate occasions (three of those investigations are still open by the way) wouldn’t that keep you fired up to take on one of those “big government spenders?”
OK, maybe the fact that Young has placed earmarks on the budget to the tune of $118 million that directly benefited his sons, daughter-in-law and former members of his staff (now D.C. Lobbyists) or the fact that Young used $30,000 of his campaign cash to buy a luxury car for himself would outrage even the meekest of Tea Partiers like yourself. How about when he put earmarks in the federal budget totaling $33 million for tenants of the STAR Center and received $145,000 in campaign contributions from tenants there or when he bailed out Boeing with $7 billion only to later accept $57,000 in campaign contributions from them (an unnecessary deal by the way that military officials felt was “screwing the taxpayers”)… wouldn’t that be more than enough evidence to keep your “I’m mad as hell and I’m not gonna take it anymore” attitude alive and kicking?
Instead, given all these facts about Bill Young’s corruptive use of earmarks AND the fact that Mr. Young has held elected office for over 50 years, you a self proclaimed Glen Beck 912/ Tea Party activist thinks all that is ok and you support him? You who are supposedly raging mad at the system and the current government has come to the conclusion, “What’s the point of climbing that mountain?”
In other words you are a hypocrite, a fraud and a coward.
OK, I get it now… glad we’ve clarified it.
