Moving Hillsborough Forward launches television ad
Moving Hillsborough Forward today launched a television ad promoting a proposed 1 cent sales tax to pay for road improvements, expanded bus service and rail in the county. Voters will consider the tax in a referendum Nov. 2. The ad, with a cameo by radio personality Jack Harris, starts off by highlighting that the tax will raise $800 million for road improvements, and also pay for bike lanes and crosswalks. Margie Martin, spokewoman for Moving Hillsborough Forward, said the roads message, is one of the most important of the campaign.
"Light rail has been receiving so much attention as part of the discussion," Martin said. "We're trying to share the road so to speak with what other things this will pay for. The funding is for more than rail, but that's been the headline grabber."
The ad will run up until election day on network and cable television.
