A multitude of candidates say yes to Lealman forum

LEALMAN  – Federal, state and local hopefuls say they will show up for the Lealman Community Association’s candidate forum. The forum, which is open to the public, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 6 at the VFW, 4145 34th St. N, by the Pepsi plant. The doors open at 6 p.m. For information, contact LCA president Ray Neri at (727) 527-5352.

Candidates who have said they plan to participate include state Sen. Charlie Justice, a Democrat running for the U.S. House of Representatives; Martin Rokicki, an independent and write-in candidate also running for the U.S. House; and judicial candidates Patricia "Trish" Muscarella, Kathryn Marie Welsh, Keith Meyer and Jeff O'Brien. Also planning to take part are Democrat Nina Hayden and Republican Jack Latvala, who are running for state Senate District 16; state Rep. Janet Long, a Democrat who is seeking re-election to House District 51 and one of her opponents, Republican Larry Ahern; Democratic incumbent Rick Kriseman and Thomas R. Cuba, his Republican opponent for House District 53; and  Democrat Calvin Harris, who is running for re-election to the Pinellas County Commission. The three candidates for Seat 4 on the Lealman Fire District board – incumbent Becky Harriman and challengers John G. Frank and Jay D. Alexander; and two candidates for the Pinellas County School Board, Lew Williams and James “Jim” Jackson, round out the field.
