Murman releases poll showing her ahead in the District 1 Commission race
Republican Sandy Murman has released a poll conducted by her campaign that shows her ahead in the race for the Hillsborough County Commission. She's facing Democrat John Dingfelder, a former Tampa City Council member, in November. According to the poll, Murman has a 56 percent to 33 percent lead over Dingfelder, with 11 percent undecided. The poll also shows voters plan to vote for the Republican commission candidate, regardless of who it actually is, by a 47 percent to 38 percent margin. That's the case even though slightly more Democrats than Republicans participated in the survey. Forty-two percent of voters also said they would be more likely to vote for a candidate who opposes the proposed 1 cent transportation sales tax. Murman opposes the tax. Thirty-five percent said they would be more likely to vote for a candidate who supports the tax (as Dingfelder does), and 23 percent said that issue would have no impact on their vote. Voter Survey Service conducted the poll, making automated calls to 500 likely voters.
