Mystery candidate closes District 12 state Senate race
Derek Crabb, a 30-year-old Petco and Target employee, has qualified to run as a write-in candidate in the District 12 state Senate race, closing the primary between Republicans Kevin Ambler and Jim Norman. That basically means only Republicans will choose who will go to Tallahassee to represent the district, which comprises northern Hillsborough and central and eastern Pasco counties. When asked about his candidacy, Crabb said: "I'm trying to lay low right now."
