National, local Republicans raise cash for C.W. Bill Young
U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young is ramping up the fundraising with events in Washington and St. Petersburg as he seeks to keep his 40-year lock on District 10 seat with big-name support (not that the GOP was exactly standing in his way against Democrat Charlie Justice).
Big money events in Washington include the House Republican leadership - Reps. John Boehner, Eric Cantor, Mike Pence, Pete Sessions and Kevin McCarthy will have a "Salute to the Dean of the Conference" event April 14 at the Capitol Hill Club in Washington. Suggested contributions to Young's campaign: $2,500 from co-hosts, $1,000 from individuals, according to the Sunlight Foundation,
The group's tracking site also lists a fundraiser that took place Tuesday hosted by lobbyist and former Rep. Bob Livingston, which requested $2,500 from PACs and $1,000 from individuals.
In St. Petersburg, Mayor Bill Foster and former Mayor Rick Baker, along with County Commissioners Susan Latvala and John Morroni, state Senate candidate Jack Latvala, among others, will have a $200-a-head luncheon for Young at the downtown Hilton on Monday (an event first reported at Saint Petersblog).
