The new cost of Pasco bureacracy: $54 an hour
To help balance the $980-million Pasco County budget proposed for next year, the County Commission will be asked Tuesday to raise fees for zoning and growth management.
According to a memo by Sam Steffey, growth management administrator, the hourly cost to review plans is $54.36 an hour. The new fees will increase revenue by $485,000.
Even delays will come with a cost. If a developer asks for a delay, for example, the county would be due $326 for another hearing even if no more review is needed.
County Administrator John Gallagher said this week that building permits are 50 percent off what a task force predicted last year. But he said fees need to be adjusted to reflect actual work conducted by staff for developers.
