New PSTA chief: I'm signed and coming to Pinellas
Brad Miller, the incoming director of the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority, emailed over the weekend to dispel questions about his contract. He has signed his contract, Miller said, and doesn't understand why it wasn't released earlier.
In emails last week, PSTA attorneys said a signed contract hadn't been received. It added to questions after the transit agency didn't release contract documents, despite repeated requests.
"I wanted to let you know (as I previously alerted the PSTA Board, Attorney, and staff), that I signed the contract on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 and sent it off in the mail Thursday to the PSTA attorney as requested. I’m not certain when it will actually be signed by the PSTA board chairman but I’m assuming that can be done early next week," Miller said.
Miller, who is leaving as chief of a transit agency in Des Moines, Iowa, said the documents should have been released.
"I apologize if there was a delay or confusion in your getting a copy of the agreement. I wasn’t told that you or some other St. Petersburg Times reporter had made requests for it previously," Miller wrote.
