New Republican joins Pinellas sheriff's race
Former union leader Tim Ingold of Largo has joined the race to be Pinellas County's next sheriff. Ingold, a Republican, retired as a captain in 2010 and started a private investigation business. His entry, filed Thursday, has been expected for weeks.
Ingold becomes the sixth candidate in the 2012 election, running against former Sheriff Everett Rice and current Chief Deputy Bob Gualtieri. On the Democratic side, provocative businessman Randy Heine and Stephen Reilly of St. Petersburg are running. And Greg Pound is making yet another go of it as Constitution Party candidate.
