Newcomer Deneault raises $52,000 in first quarter
Republican Connie Deneault has dropped a Friday evening surprise on state Rep. Bill Heller, D-St. Petersburg.
Deneault, a retired insurance agent from St. Petersburg, reported raising $51,029 during March, his only month of fundraising. While it includes $6,500 of his own money, it also includes something Heller doesn't want to see. The Republican Party of Florida contributed $8,000 to Deneault's bid.
From Deneault's news release: "I am truly humbled by this outpouring of support for my campaign. It clearly demonstrates that there is a desire for common sense conservative leadership here in Pinellas County and in Florida. Our leaders need to work to put people ahead of politics. Over the last 40 years in business, I have worked to create jobs, manage budgets and deliver results. Right now, I think the voters of House District 52 and Florida expect results."
Heller hasn't filed his latest report yet, but he raised $26,700 through December.
