Pasco sheriff: No debate

Pasco Sheriff Bob White answered his challenger's request to debate with an unequivocal 'no' today.

Robert Sullivan, a recently retired lieutenant who is challenging his former boss, sent a letter to White and local media on Wednesday proposing three town-hall style debates ahead of the Aug. 26 Republican primary. The questions would come from members of the audience.

White did not reply Wednesday but this morning said he didn't think such debates would be productive.

"I'm out there in the community every day answering their questions," White told Bay Buzz. "I think I have my finger on the pulse."

White has raised nearly $140,000 to Sullivan's $10,000. He also has two Democratic challengers and another with no party affiliation.

"That's a typical request of a candidate with no money and no support," White added.
