Pasco's Schrader wins nod vs. 'operator' Nicolette
Pasco County Commissioner Ted Schrader won the Times editorial board's recommendation over challenger John Nicolette in the Republican primary, which virtually will decide the next commissioner from east-side District 1 race.
A snippet: "Ted Schrader is a progressive public official interested in bettering the quality of life in Pasco County. His political opponent is motivated by self interest and offers no palatable solutions to the issues of traffic congestion, community planning or the other concerns that confront a growing county amid shrinking revenues."
The only other contestant is an ally of Nicolette, write-in candidate John M. Taylor, whose bid closed the primary to only Republicans. Read the full recommendation.
