Paul Phillips withdraws from District 10 state Senate race
Republican Paul Phillips will not challenge Florida Sen. Ronda Storms for her District 10 seat. In a news release, Phillips said he filed to run because he was "awash in the wave of anti-incumbent sentiment," but in the end "reason and logic must prevail over emotion." Phillips said he believes Storms is better prepared to handle the issues facing Florida than he is. "We need a seasoned and experienced legisalture," he said. "There is no time for on-the-job training in this environment." He closed his release by noting that he is excited by the renewed interest in politics he has seen in recent months: "If this renewed interest translates into a voter turnout of over 60 percent, I will don a grass skirt, and little else, and dance the hula at the busiest intersection in my district."
