Perhaps the best relationship is no relationship?
ST. PETERSBURG -- Mayor Bill Foster's solution to establishing a better working relationship with the county is apparently to leave County Administrator Bob LaSala out of the equation.
Foster's Tuesday appearance at the Tiger Bay luncheon included many jabs at the two men's strained relationship. It started with a joke during Foster's introduction and ended with the last audience question from County Commissioner Ken Welch.
Welch asked Foster what he thought could be done to improve the relationship between the county and the city.
Foster essentially said that he felt that the greatest successess would be had by him working on his personal relationships with the commissioners, rather than LaSala.
"I'm not sure your administrator will ever get" the fact that the "250,000 people I represent are residents of Pinellas County," Foster said.
