Pinellas' Calvin Harris: 'I didn't reinvent myself'
Pinellas County Commissioner Calvin Harris brushed off suggestions by some supporters that he's at risk for an unexpected loss Nov. 2 against Norm Roche. Harris, a Democrat, faces Roche, who is running as a Republican after unsuccessfully seeking a commission seat as a Democrat.
"I think people see I didn’t reinvent myself for this election. I think I’m the same positive guy," Harris said Monday.
Harris, a commissioner since 1997, downplayed risks he'll lose given the predictions of a Republican rush at the polls, though he said he is taking the race seriously.
"I do feel good about it. We’ve always said it’s going to be a long, tough campaign," Harris said, saying the forums have been a great chance to spread his message.
"People know the job we’re doing in Pinellas County, and people know we’re on the right footing," Harris said.
