Pinellas canvassing board wraps up
The canvassing board in Pinellas County finished up its work late today. Of the 1,034 provisional ballots examined, 493 were accepted, or nearly 48 percent.
Pinellas Supervisor of Elections spokeswoman Nancy Whitlock said most were rejected because the individual who cast the provisional ballot was found not to be registered.
Whitlock did not have comparison data for the percentage of provisionals rejected in 2004.
As for absentees, 768 of the 184,905 cast were rejected, or 0.4 percent, slightly more than in 2004. Most absentees were rejected because voters had failed to sign them, Whitlock said.
The results of the canvassing board's work don't affect any Pinellas races.
