Pinellas commissioner completes cancer treatments
Pinellas County Commissioner John Morroni plans to make it through more than today's board meeting. He's finishing radiation treatment for non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
“I just have to report some good news: Today at 4:30 will be my last radiation treatment after 25 treatments," Morroni said to clapping at today's meeting. I want to thank everybody for their support and their love and their prayers.”
Morroni, who also went through chemotherapy, said he will be tested in seven weeks to see if the cancer is gone, though he said he is pretty optimistic for the future
He also thanked Commissioners Nancy Bostock and Neil Brickfield, who took his place at afternoon meetings while he was treated since the fall diagnosis.
Those days are over and I’ll be back to attend those meetings," said Morroni, a Republican on the board since 2000.
