Pinellas Dems fund-raising ends sparsely
The Pinellas County Democratic Party raised just $2,265 and spent $8,447 in the final three months of 2009. That leaves the party at $42,328 raised overall last year, and $38,005 spent, some of the better number sin recent years, particularly for an off year.
The results leave the Democrats well behind the Republicans' fund-raising last year, however, even in a year when the GOP's spending went up as fund-raising went down. The GOP raised $132,622 overall and spent $121,942 last year.
It leaves an interesting test for next month: The Republicans have the Lincoln Day Dinner on Feb. 20 at the Hilton hotel in Carillon. The Democrats' Kennedy-King Dinner is Feb. 27 at the same hotel.
Who leaves with a better haul?
