Pinellas school employees pick candidates

The political action committee for Pinellas County’s two largest school employee unions has released its recommendations for school board and other races.

Incumbent school board members Janet Clark and Carol Cook got the nod, as did former board member Ron Walker and Palm Harbor chiropractor Ken Peluso. Cook is unopposed so far.

In local House races, the unions support Janet C. Long (Dist. 51); Bill Heller (Dist. 52); Rick Kriseman (Dist. 53); George Alexander Gonzalez (Dist. 54); and Darryl Rouson (Dist. 55). The group supports incumbent Dennis Jones for state senate.

The recommendations were made after a 14-member committee for the PAC interviewed the candidates. The two unions are the Pinellas Classroom Teachers Association and the Pinellas Education Support Personnel Association.
