Pinellas unveiling $1.62 billion budget
Pinellas County Administrator Bob LaSala is preparing to give the County Commission a $1.62 billion budget for 2011 on Tuesday afternoon.
Overall, it's a 3.6 percent decrease, or $61 million, from this year. One-time projects went up $78 million, but the county's operating budget will drop by 10 percent, or $139.8 million, according to LaSala's budget message. The general fund property tax rate is staying the same.
"This proposed budget is balanced, but our work is not done. We continue to face a structural gap in the general fund that will require difficult decisions in future years," LaSala says in his budget message.
