Pinellas voters sent wrong polling place information
Due to a vendor printing error, voters in seven precincts in Safety Harbor, Gulfport and Oldsmar were mailed incorrect polling place information last week for the March 10 municipal elections.
If a registered voter's polling place changes from one election to the next, they get a notice.
It's not known precisely how many voters got bad information, so Majestic Marketing, the vendor that handles printing and mailing for the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections Office, Tuesday remailed all 6,023 notices.
Majestic Marketing owner Bob Hettinger said a jam during a print run caused the problem and it went unnoticed. Hettinger said he paid the cost of resending the notices, roughly $1,200.
"That’s one of the disadvantages of my business," Hettinger said. "Anything that goes wrong with a mailing we have to pay for it if it's our fault."
The elections office encourages voters to confirm their polling places by calling (727) 464-6788 or visiting www.votepinellas.com.
