Foreclosure defense attorney Matt Weidner has filed this week to run against state Rep. Jeff Brandes, R-St. Petersburg. Weidner has been widely quoted on foreclosure issues, such as Thursday's story in the Times.

Weidner filed to run without any party affiliation. Democrat William Nobles also is running in the race for what's now House District 52. It's traditionally a battleground, and it's expected to remain that way after redistricting.

Weidner's forays also have included blogging, including one titled "Proof that No Citizen is Safe While the Florida Legislature is in Session."
