Race to succeed Kevin Ambler picks up candidate
Next year's race to replace state Rep. Kevin Ambler, R-Lutz, has picked up another candidate: Republican Rich Reidy, the chief aide to Hillsborough County Commission Chairman Ken Hagan.
Reidy is the second Republican to file papers to run for the District 47 seat, which is coming open because of term limits. Keystone Civic Association president Tom Aderhold filed to run last month.
So far, there are no Democrats who have filed to run, but there still could be more candidates to come: Former Hillsborough County Commissioner Brian Blair, who was defeated in a bid for re-election in November by Kevin Beckner, has said he might seek the seat.
Ambler plans to run for the state Senate seat now held by Victor Crist. District 47 includes Odessa, Keystone, Cheval, Northdale, Carrollwood and Citrus Park
