Redner wraps himself in the flag, touts his independence
Strip club owner Joe Redner touts his refusal to accept donations in a new campaign mailer, declaing "I am NOT for sale." Indeed, his campaign finance reports show a personal loan of $20,000 is all that's financing his campaign. Janet Cruz, his Democratic opponent in the race for the District 58 state House seat, has collected $45,000, much of it from lobbyists, unions and the healthcare and real estate industries. Less than 10 percent of the money has come from individuals.
Redner, who is running with no party affiliation, declares in the piece that Cruz "doesn't have extraordinary abilities" and paints her as a Tallahassee insider beholden to the special interests funding her campaign. He asks voters to go to his web site to read the grand jury indictment of Ray Sansom, saying its an example of "why we can't get anything progressive down in the Legislature. The only people getting screwed are you and I."
