Rich Reidy drops out of District 47 state House race
Rich Reidy, a legislative aide to Hillsborough County Commissioner Ken Hagan, has dropped out of the race for the District 47 state house seat. That leaves four Republicans to face off in the August primary: Retired Verizon lobbyist Irene Guy; attorney James Grant; businessman Tom Aderhold and former Hillsborough County Commissioner Brian Blair.
“I was overwhelmed by the depth of support I received, and at the same time, the genuine regret many expressed that I was leaving the County,” Reidy said in a news release. “Those many voices of encouragement helped me to realize that my heart and passion is in local government. It is what I know, what I love and where I can best serve. I’ll just have to wait until either 2012 or 2014 to run for a county commission seat.”
