Richard Corcoran still ahead in fundraising for House 45 race

12

April

Richard Corcoran, one of three Republicans running in a closely watched race for the House 45 seat, pulled in another $32,425 last quarter, bringing his total campaign coffers to $165,743. That puts him well ahead of his two competitors.

Kathryn Starkey, a Pasco School Board member from a well-known ranching family, raked in about $12,429, including a $4,000 loan from herself, which gives her about $97,336.

Fabian Calvo, a Clearwater radio host and landlord, raised $4,236, for a total of $17,131.

The reporting quarter covers January through March.

Corcoran served a short stint as chief of staff to then-House Speaker Marco Rubio. At one time, the Republican Party had assigned him a party credit card, and he rang up $70,000 in four months, a Times/Herald report found. A close friend of state Sen. Mike Fasano (the New Port Richey Republican who has been hammering away at Rubio on behalf of Gov. Charlie Crist), Corcoran now works as a lawyer for Pasco Sheriff Bob White.

The House 45 seat, which covers parts of Pasco and Pinellas counties, is currently held by Tom Anderson of Dunedin, who must step down due to term limits.
