Rustmann to hold kickoff for District 1 Commission race
TAMPA -- Trey Rustmann, a Republican seeking the District 1 seat on the Hillsborough County Commission, will hold a campaign kickoff Jan. 12.
The kickoff and fundraiser will start at 6 p.m. at the Palma Ceia Country Club in South Tampa.
Rustmann, a director of enterprise projects for Kforce, has also announced that he raised $23,205 in his first quarter of campaigning. The deadline for submitting quarterly disclosure reports is Monday, and the other two declared candidates for the office have not submitted totals yet.
The District 1 seat is currently held by Republican Rose Ferlita, who is considering a run for Tampa mayor and is expected not to seek a second term. Tampa City Council member John Dingfelder, a Democrat, is pursuing the seat and has raised $38,441 through two quarters ended in September. Anne Madden, a Ruskin business owner also running as a Republican, raised $4,590 through September.
