Sandy Murman considering another go at the Florida House
Former state Representative Sandy Murman was at a Brandon Chamber of Commerce luncheon today on rail. The guest speakers -- Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio, Hillsborough County Commissioner Mark Sharpe and Bob Clifford, executive director of TBARTA -- argued that a one-cent sales tax to support rail would also help pay for roads and expanded bus service in suburban areas. Before the luncheon, Murman, a Republican, said she is "seriously considering" running for the District 1 Hillsborough County Commission seat in 2010. Rose Ferlita is likely to leave that post to run for Tampa mayor. But Murman also said she may run for a Florida House or Senate seat. She wouldn't get into specifics about her state ambitions, but Rachel Burgin holds the District 56 seat that once belonged to Murman.
