Saul-Sena announces first fundraising totals

Linda Saul-Sena, a longtime Tampa City Council member now running for the Hillsborough County Commission, announced today that she raised $79,282 from 400 donors in her first fundraising quarter. Saul-Sena, a Democrat, announced in December that she would challenge County Commission Chairman Ken Hagan, a Republican, for the at-large District 5 seat. Her total includes about $5,000 of her own money, according to her campaign manager, Mitch Kates. “We have a long way to go, but today’s report shows that we will have the ability to run a strong, competitive race,” Saul-Sena said in a news release. Hagan, who has been raising money since early 2009, said he pulled in about $30,000 in the most recent quarter, bringing his campaign total to more than $250,000.

Also in the race: Republican Don Kruse, and former county planner Jim Hosler, who is running with no party affiliation.
