Saul-Sena "storms out" of editorial board meeting
We don't normally draw attention to the endorsements of other newspapers in the area, but this one had some choice bits.
The Florida Sentinel Bulletin, a twice weekly catering primarily to African-American residents, came out with its endorsements of Hillsborough County Commission and School Board candidates Friday. Republican Ken Hagan, seeking to switch from his District 2 seat representing northern Hillsborough to the at-large District 5 post, picked up the nod. Even the editors noted that they seldom pick a Republican over a strong Democrat.
But they faulted Linda Saul-Sena, the former Tampa City Council member who is the Democrat in question, for being on the wrong side of several issues of importance to the African-American community. In fact, they said she "never supported our community."
Apparently the editorial board interview didn't go very pleasantly. The endorsement write-up claims Saul-Sena "stormed out of her interview."
