Sharon Russ, candidate for St. Petersburg mayor, to skip forum
ST. PETERSBURG - Mayoral hopeful Sharon Russ said she has more important things to do than attend tonight's mayoral forum on the arts at the Studio@620.
She said she plans to attend "Dick Morris: Live on Stage" at the Palladium Theater tonight instead to rally for campaign contributions. She has not raised any cash since entering the race last year.
"We need money really bad so I'm trying to stir up some support," she said.
She said she would send one of her three sons as her surrogate to talk during the debate.
We are not sure how that will work out.
"She has not conveyed to me that she was not coming," said Bob Devin Jones, the event organizer. "I'll decide once he gets here. It's a candidates' forum, not a surrogates' forum."
Russ also skipped a candidate forum in St. Pete Beach last week.
