South Tampa neighborhoods hold candidates forum on Tuesday

January

TAMPA -- Fourteen neighborhoods representing more than 20,000 residents will hold a South Tampa candidates forum for most City Council races from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Candidates in the three citywide races in Districts 1, 2 and 3, plus District 4, which represents South Tampa, and District 6, which covers West Tampa and the West Shore area, are expected at the forum.

While there are lots of forums for the mayor's candidates, there don't seem to be quite as many for City Council races, said Marlin Anderson, president of the Sunset Park Area Homeowners Association.

"This is a chance for people to get out and see the candidates," he said.

The moderator will be Jeff Patterson of WFLA-TV. The event will take place at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 4311 W San Miguel St., near the corner of Henderson Boulevard and S Manhattan Avenue.

Sponsors include the neighborhood associations for Sunset Park, Virginia Park, Culbreath Bayou, Bayshore Beautiful, Gandy/Sun Bay South, Parkland Estates,  New Suburb Beautiful, Palma Ceia, Bayshore Gardens, Culbreath Heights, Ballast Point, Palma Ceia West, Bayside West and Bel Mar Shores.
