St. Pete Council to recognize gay pride event
ST. PETERSBURG -- City Council Member Jeff Danner will ask the council today to officially recognize St. Pete Pride, the city's largest annual gay pride event.
It is a standard proclamation and will most likely win the approval of the council. But who knows? Four new faces have joined the council since last year's Pride event. Except for Council Member Karl Nurse, who is friendly with several local gay leaders, none of the other newcomers are known for their involvement in the gay community.
The council meeting starts at 3 p.m. at City Hall.
