Steve Kornell outraises everyone but Bill Foster in St. Petersburg elections
ST. PETERSBURG -- District 5 candidate Stevel Kornell continues to raise big bucks.
Kornell, who mailed in his report Friday to meet the state's deadlines, is supported by various local and national groups.
Here is his campaign's press release:
St. Petersburg – Steve Kornell, candidate for St. Petersburg City Council, collected $13,146 in cash and in-kind contributions in the nine day span which comprised the first post-primary campaign finance reporting period. From the beginning of the campaign until the end of the most recent reporting period, Kornell has collected approximately $55,000 in cash and in-kind contributions.
Kornell’s campaign has received contributions from a large and diverse group of people and businesses throughout St. Petersburg, and his campaign has raised more money from St. Petersburg addresses than any other city council campaign’s total receipts from all sources during the most recent reporting period.
“I am honored by the outpouring of support from such a diverse group of volunteers, donors and voters,” said Kornell. “They have given me the ability to communicate directly with the voters of our great city, and for that I am very grateful.”
Meanwhile, District 8 candidate Leonard Schmiege, who also didn't turn in his report Friday, mailed in the documents to meet the state deadline.
However, Vel Thompson, a District 6 candidate, turned in her report Monday in person. She could face a $50 late fee.
