Stokes announces run for state House seat
Republican Curtis Stokes, president of the Hillsborough Chapter of the NAACP, says he plans to run for the District 60 state House seat. Ed Homan holds the post now, but is term-limited out of the 2010 race. Stokes, a banker, said he wants to go to Tallahassee to help improve Florida's economy and education system. This will be Stokes' second run for elected office. He made a failed bid for a Tampa City Council seat in 2003.
Shawn Harrison, another Tampa Republican, also announced today plans to run for Homan's seat.
