T. Rowe Price deal in Pasco turns shaky
After the state and Pasco County offered roughly $30 million for T. Rowe Price to build near Land O'Lakes, the economy has further shaken the deal's chances.
The company is cutting 288 nationally, including 28 in Tampa. And a company spokesman acknowledged that expansion plans are much less certain, reports Times staff writer Jodie Tillman. The company once planned to confirm the expansion -- a 1,600-job project -- and build later this year. A challenge to an environmental permit also has slowed the deal.
State Sen. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, shrugged at the layoffs potential to scuttle the deal. "I don't have any concerns whatsoever," he said.
