Tampa's Julie Brown makes bid for PSC
Former assistant city attorney Julie Brown has applied for one of the open positions on the state's Public Service Commission. Brown now works as in-house counsel for First American Corporation, a title insurance underwriter. She also serves on the city's Architectural Review Commission. In 2007, she ran unsuccessfully for Tampa City Council against John Dingfelder. She has said she planned to run for the council again in 2011, but now says the PSC job is her top priority. Brown said she got a taste of PSC issues when she worked in the city attorney's office and helped negotiate contracts with TECO. As for the utilities, Brown said this: "You don't need unbridled growth and you don't need unbridles rates. You need structure and you need delicate thought. That's the most intriguing aspect of it."
