Tea partier Forcade drops challenge to Young
Republican Eric Forcade, a sheriff's officer from Palm Harbor, is dropping his campaign to challenge U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young.
Forcade has told Young's campaign he's out Friday, and plans on issuing a news release. He will support Young's re-election this fall. Forcade struggled to raise much money though he said he had enough to qualify. But the party has gelled as expected behind Young, who will seek his 21st term.
"He’s been fairly solid for the most part. What’s the point of climbing that mountain?" Forcade told the Bay Buzz.
He won't switch to another race this year, but Forcade has his eye on running for office in two years.
