Turner, Henriquez both qualify for Hillsborough property appraiser race
Hillsborough County Property Appraiser Rob Turner is not letting a porn scandal keep him from seeking reelection.
Turner, 60, a Republican, just filed his qualifying paperwork to run for a fifth term.
Two weeks ago, Turner admitted to the Tampa Bay Times that he had sent multiple pornographic emails to his former human resources director, whom he once dated. The woman, Carolyn Filippone, had filed a discrimination complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission that was dismissed in April. Turner fired her as the Times was preparing a story about the allegations her complaint contained.
Turner has maintained that the emails, while a personal mistake, were part of a mutual and consensual exchange between he and Filippone and occurred on non-work time using personal equipment.
Meanwhile, former Democratic state Rep. Bob Henriquez who, along with Rep. state Sen. Ronda Storms announced his candidacy for the office after stories about Turner ran, made it official Thursday by submitting his qualifying paperwork. Storms filed earlier in the week.
